Accident Shuts Down Route 1A In Holden

A motor vehicle accident on Thursday led to the closure of Route 1A near the Brewer-Holden town line.

At about 11:30 a.m., a dispatcher at the Penobscot Regional Communications Center said the road was closed in both directions.

The dispatcher said CPR was being performed on one of the victims, and the accident would likely disrupt traffic for hours.

"The location is just off of I-395," an email from MaineDOT said. "Motorists will be detoured onto Route 46 and should expect delays."

No further information about the accident was immediately available.
