Look to the sky September 10th-14th as the 7th annual Night Sky Festival takes place in Acadia with a schedule full of events.

In 2007 the Bar Harbor Conservation Commission made it their mission to preserve the night skies over Mount Desert Island and its surrounding communities as the darkest skies on the Eastern seaboard. The "Light and Glare" Ordinance was voted in to allow only ‘night sky friendly’ outdoor lighting on all new construction in the Town of Bar Harbor, in an effort to prevent any further light pollution.

Starlit boat tours, photography lessons, informative talks about the cosmos and constellations, and meet Astronaut, Dan Berry! My favorite part is the star party on the top of Cadillac on Saturday night.

Most of these events are free of charge and fun for the whole family. Shuttles will be available for certain events as well.

For the complete schedule and details on events visit their website and for cancellation information visit their Facebook.
