The State Fire Marshal’s office has released the identity of a man who died as the result of a fire in the Washington County town of Perry. The body of Curtis Probert, 93 was found in the driveway of his home.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office says Probert died of a combination of smoke inhalation and burns. Fire Investigators say he was able to escape the burning house but collapsed in the driveway, where he passed away from his injuries.

Probert’s wife, Antoinette Probert, who lives in a mobile home next door to the house discovered the fire. The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived late Saturday afternoon. Fire investigators said because of the complete destruction of the house, the cause of fire cannot be determined.
