It's always a great day when I start it off watching a Billy Dean video. And I have to say, for a variety of reasons, this is my favorite! The 90's at Nine Online features Billy's song 'Somewhere in My Broken Heart.'

Billy had a lot of success in the 1990's but was one of those artists that never quite survived the turn of the century. He first gained national attention as a contestant on the 'American Idol' precursor 'Star Search.'

This song was the second release by the Florida native and his second number 3 hit. The song was previously recorded by Randy Travis and included on his 1989 album 'No Holdin' Back.'

His most recent accomplishment was taking over for Kenny Rogers, playing the part of Hank Longley in 'The Toy Shoppe' at the Starlite Theatre in Branson.

I have to admit, I've always had a huge crush on this guy. I was backstage at a Reba concert in Portland once, going through a meet-and-greet line, and I handed Billy Dean a CD that he had previously signed. He asked me about it and I told him that I'd met him previously. (I can't remember where) Well, he leaned back against the wall and started chatting about all sorts of things. Meanwhile, security is trying to hustle everyone out of the backstage area so the show could start. And I"ll tell you what...I wasn't moving as long as Billy Dean wanted to chat!
