Three people are facing felony drug charges as a result of two separate investigations. The investigation is ongoing and police say more arrests are likely.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that on Monday, June 9th, Maine Drug Enforcement Agents in Bangor arrested Anthony Cabal and Katrina Meucci on felony drug trafficking charges.

For the past several weeks, the MDEA has been investigating drug trafficking activities out of an apartment inside 95 Center Street in Bangor. As part of the investigation, undercover agents purchased oxycodone from people connected to the case.

Meucci, age 22, was charged with Class B Trafficking in Schedule W drugs.

Cabal, age 20, is charged with Class A Aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs. The charge was elevated due to the fact that the drugs were being sold less than 1000 feet form John Bapst High School. At the time of his arrest, there were 2 outstanding warrants for Cabal. One was a full extradition warrant from the New York City police department in February of this year on conspiracy charges and the other was out of Lewiston for failure to appear on non-drug related criminal offenses.

In another case, Maine Drug Enforcement Agents arrested Joel Gomez-Perez, age 37 of Caribou, Saturday, June 7th on felony drug charges in Bangor. The arrest followed an investigation over the past several months by the Maine Drug Enforcement Downeast Task Force based in Ellsworth. During the investigation, agents learned that Gomez-Perez was responsible for the importation of cocaine into the state of Maine from Massachusetts.

On July 7th, Gomez-Perez boarded a passenger bus for Boston. When he returned, he was apprehended by police who found him with approximately two ounces of cocaine with a street value of $5,000.
