Three people have been arrested for their roles in importing and trafficking Methamphetamine in the town of Searsport.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Searsport Police have arrested Gerald Gustafson (51) of Searsport, Thomas Reynolds (50) of Pennsylvania, and Marina Saravia (54) of Arizona, all for unlawful trafficking in Methamphetamine (Class B).

The Searsport Police Department initiated an investigation back in August of this year with the assistance of agents from the Mid-Coast District Task Force. Their findings revealed Gerald Gustafson was receiving Methamphetamine through the U.S. mail. Thanks to the assistance of U.S. Postal Inspectors, agents were able to intercept 3 packages containing Methamphetamine sent through the mail to Gustafson. Gustafson was arrested on September 26th when he took possession of the third package. He’s being held without bail due to a Probation Violation at the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset.

Agents determined Thomas Reynolds had mailed packages containing Methamphetamine to Gustafson from McDonald, Pennsylvania. Agents also discovered Marina Saravia had mailed packages containing Methamphetamine to Gustafson form Golden Valley, Arizona.

Reynolds was arrested on November 27th in Pennsylvania. He’s being held in the Washington County Correctional Facility as a Fugitive from Justice pending extradition proceedings to bring him back to Maine.

Saravia was arrested on December 3rd in Arizona by members of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Department and Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team. Saravia is being held at the Mohave County Jail as a Fugitive from Justice pending extradition proceedings to bring her back to Maine.

This multi-state investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected.
