Suspects Accused of Multiple Police Pursuits in Stolen Vehicles

Two people suspected of stealing multiple vehicles in northern Maine, and leading police on several car chases, have been taken into custody.

A crime spree that lasted for several days ended with the arrests of Britteny Finley and Brandon Lane on multiple charges. It all started on Monday, October 12th, when Aroostook County Sheriff's Deputies engaged in a motor vehicle pursuit in Madawaska Lake. After crashing the vehicle, deputies say Finley and Lane fled into the woods. A police K9 unit was called in and located Lane, but Finley managed to escape. Not long after that chase, a farmer reported to the State Police that his blue Ford F-150 pickup had been stolen out of his barn in the Cross Lake area.

On Tuesday, October 13th, State Police tried to stop Brandon Lane, who was driving a stolen vehicle from Caribou on Route 1 in Littleton, but Lane led them on a chase that ended when he failed to negotiate a turn onto the Gentle Road. The vehicle went off the road and Troopers again apprehended Lane. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

The next day, State Police received a report of a Buick Park Avenue that had been stolen from a home in Littleton. Troopers located the vehicle a short time later in Mars Hill, which was allegedly being driven by Britteny Finley. Police tried to get her to stop, but she led them on a chase that ended just south of Presque Isle, when Presque Isle Police Officers deployed spike strips, deflating all four of the tires. Finley tried to run, but was caught by a State Trooper.

Finley and Lane are suspects in multiple motor vehicle thefts in Madawaska, Cross Lake, Caribou, Presque Isle, and Littleton. Both are being held at the Aroostook County Jail on multiple charges including burglary, theft by unauthorized use of property, driving to endanger, and eluding arrest, and will face additional charges at the completion of the investigation.
