An annual holiday tradition is changing to facilitate safety amid COVID-19 restrictions.

This year, visitors to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens Aglow won't be getting out of their vehicle. According to Penobscot Bay Pilot, the annual holiday attraction will be a drive-through event. Tickets will be sold per-car, for designated dates, and times. There will be a maximum of 50 cars per-15 minute session.

Organizers are working to recreate the Gardens Aglow displays to work around the drive-through experience. Vehicle height restrictions will allow only passenger vehicles to participate.

Tickets are on-sale now. The Gardens Aglow runs Nov.21 through Jan. 2, Thursday through Sunday, 4:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets will only be sold online, and must be purchased in advance.

This will be the sixth year the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens will light up their over 300 acres with more than 500,000 LED lights.
